What SmileKonnect is
SmileKonnect is a digital platform for dental communication, care coordination, clinical referral workflows, mentorship, electronic documents, and related clinic tools used in an Ontario dental context.
- Patients, dentists, clinic administrators, clinical referees (such as dental hygienists), and mentees use role-based portals
- Features include secure messaging, e-signature, treatment-plan workflows, notifications, and mentorship case review
- The platform does not replace emergency or in-person dental care
Who is responsible for what
Your dentist and dental clinic remain responsible for clinical care and for protecting personal health information as health information custodians under PHIPA. SmileKonnect provides software tools that support those workflows.
- Dentists remain regulated by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario as individual professionals
- SmileKonnect provides role-based access controls, encryption of many sensitive fields, and audit logging
